In December 2007 and January 2008 we ran
the first of an annual programme which we called the Graduate Credit
Skills Programme. A small group of 7 students from CIDA City Campus,
having completed their Bachelor of Business Administration degrees,
successfully completed a rigorous selection procedure carried out by
Nedbank and attended the programme.
The aim of the programme was to offer graduates from a previously
disadvantaged background the opportunity to gain currently scarce bank
credit analysis skills that would enable them to be placed with Nedbank in
Credit Analyst positions within a business banking environment.
We are very pleased to say that all the students successfully completed
the programme and were employed by Nedbank.
Below are some statements from the graduates who attended the programme
and what the training has meant to them.
“International Training Solutions has given me a life time opportunity
by providing me with the relevant industry skills. The Graduate Credit
Skills Programme has given me the upper hand on everyone who has not taken
the course”.
“I was very impressed with the training as it boosts confidence and gives
a broader scope of what not only Credit Analysts do, but also what
managers do”.
“To me the training moved me from the academic background and provided me
with a view of corporate reality, specifically in the field of banking”.

The course was successfully run for a
second time in December 2008 and January 2009 with approximately the same
number of students as the previous year.
The project was made possible by the efforts of Kennedy Kamfwa of the
School of Investments, CIDA City Campus, who assisted with identifying
potential candidates and providing a venue for the duration of the
programme.
We are also indebted to Nedbank Business Banking for their enthusiastic
support and assistance in the selection and placement of learners.
